We specialize in hand made (lampwork) beads. We have a fabulous selection of freshwater pearls, sterling silver and Czech glass. Our collection of semi-precious stones is the best in Lake County. We also have a selection of "ethnic" beads from Africa, Tibet, and other parts of the world.
Additionally, we have great classes if you are looking for the basics of jewelry making. New this year are Chain Maille Classes.

How long have you been in business?
I've actually lost track. But it is somewhere around 18 years.
What is your primary product or service?
A fabulous collection of beads of all kinds, findings, classes, repairs, parties, "Girls Night Out"
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I am the owner of Beauty and the Bead. This started out as a hobby while I was still a "corporate person". Gradually, beads became a passion. I was making and selling my jewelry and after a while, "this bead thing" took over my life. I left Corporate America and opened my own business. I've actually had several careers, ie: teaching, personnel, organizational development, sales , project management, market research are some of them.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Beauty and the Bead is the oldest bead store in Lake County,IL. I am repeatedly told by my customers, new ones and old ones alike, that we have the widest varity and best selection of beads than any other store. We also have very interesting things that you will not find elsewhere. With a very strong committment to Customer Service we "go the extra mile" to insure customer satisfaction.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
1 (one) and no.

The street address is 129 W. Townline Road (Rte. 60, Vernon Hills. We are located in a small strip mall called Vernon Plaza, on the corner of Aspen Rd. and Townline Rd. (Look for the 7-11!) Take I-94 and exit at Rte. 60. Head w. to Aspen. Turn left, go around the "island" and make the very first left you can. Call if you get lost. (847) 680-6565.
What type of payments do you accept?
Anything except American Express
Which areas do you service?
Lake County, Il, Wisconsin, Minn, Cook County, Il and whomever wants to come seee us.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?

What are your hours of operation?
We are closed on Sundays and Mondays. (Also an occasional snow day or bead shopping day.) The rest of the week, (Tues. through Sat.) we are open from 11-5.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
Return visits and telling their friends and family.
